Crocheting for dummies!

I have been learning how to crochet. It's been a lot of fun. It wasn't very relaxing at first, but now that I'm finally figuring out what I'm doing, it has become relaxing.

The following are some pictures of my very first completed crochet project:

I wanted to make something for my sister for Christmas and I decided on a scarf.

I might have made it a little too long, but I think that's better than too short. (no offense, Kelly)

I alternated double crochet and puff stitch with a row of single crochet between each one.

I wasn't quite finished before Christmas, so I showed it to Lauralin on Christmas morning, but she wasn't able to do much with it. I was planning on finishing it on our trip to Lancaster, but I left my crochet hook at home so I had to wait until after we got back. I finally finished it today and am really looking forward to giving her the final product. I think my sister's beauty will be the perfect backdrop to display this exquisite work of art. :)

So that's the scarf. I'm thinking for my next project I want to try a pair of socks and I still have the bag that I'm making.

I will have to add a follow-up post with a picture of my sister wearing the scarf.

Vegetables

Most people eat vegetables because they're supposed to be healthy, but they cover them in butter and justify this by saying, "well at least i'm eating vegetables."

Did you know that the only reason to eat vegetables is as a way of getting fats into the body? It's hard to eat a stick of butter all by itself, but melt it all over a bowl of peas and all of a sudden you have a delicious way of getting butter into your system.

My wife figured this out. She's a genius!!

My new "Life Verse"

Well it used to be

Job 5:7 (New American Standard Bible)
For man is born for trouble,
As sparks fly upward.

But this morning I have found a new one.

Proverbs 27:14 (New American Standard Bible)
He who blesses his friend with a loud voice early in the morning,
It will be reckoned a curse to him.

I always say, "if God had intended for me to see a sunrise, he would have put it later in the day."
